VOLUNTEERING

There are many ways that you can help the Brazos Animal Shelter.

Are you interested in getting involved in your community? One of the most rewarding places to volunteer is the animal shelter. The Brazos Animal Shelter is always in need of volunteers whether you are able to spend a few hours a week, come in once a month or stop by daily.
Not only can you volunteer at the shelter, but you could help to foster animals that are not ready for adoption. These animals may need medical assistance or are just too young to adopt out.
Other ways to volunteer are helping with seasonal events like Wienerfest, or ongoing projects like the PetSmart mobile adoption.

Anyone interested in volunteering
or the foster care program must first attend a mandatory orientation.

The second step is to attend a volunteer orientation
(Tuesday or Wednesday at 5:30pm).

No appointment is needed to attend.
Please be 10-15 minutes early as we start on time.

Active Volunteers

If you are an active (been through orientation) volunteer you can log-in to the Volunteer Information Center to schedule your hours and track volunteer time.

Here are just a few of the benefits:

  • Be part of the solution. You'll join a network of people working to make the world safe and more humane for all living creatures. You'll make the jobs of everyone working for animals a little easier by lending a hand and spreading the message of responsible pet ownership.
  • Get warm fuzzies. You'll never find a more grateful and accepting comrade than an animal you have comforted. Who can't use another loyal support in life?
  • Keep good company. You'll make lots of new friends—and not just the four-legged kind. Working side by side with people who share similar interests can forge lifelong friendships.
  • Meet the new you. You'll discover skills you never knew you had, and you may be surprised at what you're capable of achieving.
  • Gain a new career. You'll learn things that may lead you to the career—or career change— of your dreams. Employers and college admissions officers look favorably on time spent in volunteer service.
  • Enjoy a wagging tail, a purr, and a smile. Didn't someone once say that the best things in life are free?
